- A: Materiales ordinarios solidos: papel, cartón, madera, tela
- B: Líquidos Inflamables
- C: De origen eléctrico
- D: Metales combustibles: magnesio titanio
- K: Aceites de cocina
El RATING se refiere a una combinación un numero y la letra del tipo de fuego para lo cual por ejemplo un extintor 6-A:60-B: C tendría un poder de extinción para:
- 6 extintores de tipo A, aproximadamente 6 metros cuadrados de material combustible.
- 60 extintores tipo B, aproximadamente 60 litros de liquido inflamable
- 1 extintor de tipo C, para equipos eléctricos energizados hasta 100 000 voltios.
